I figured since Bush ran it up, he could take some of his war profits and pay it himself

i think the only way would be to elect REAL conservatives. Definately not the democrats and most of the republicans lately seem to have been merely posing as conservatives.

Inflation

When gas is $60,000 a gallon, we can pay off the debt easy.

I hate to tell you this, but we may never. But, we will be assimilated into the NA Union, & our money merged with Canada, & Mexico, into something just like Europe. It is what the big banks want, total control of all the money.

Try 9 trillion, And it’s not going to be easy. Electing Ron Paul would be a good start. The usual gang of democrats will spend more on social programs, and pro-war republicans will spend more on the war. Pro-War democrats like Hillary, are the worst of both worlds.

The first step would be to balance the budget, we’ll never ever pay it off if we keep borrowing more money. Ron Paul will do this.

Cutting taxes is a tried and true way to increase revenues. It has worked every time it has been tried. The key to curtailing the debt is to curb spending. Creating bigger government in the form of national health care will make the spending on the Iraq war look like chump change. Raising taxes guarantees 2 things, less jobs and less taxes collected. And quit bitching about taxing corps. They provide jobs to people. Raising taxes on their profits is stupid. Do you honestly believe that those increases in taxes are not passed on to the consumer? Wake up!

Get out of the crazy war in Iraq.
Establish foreign policy and talk to both friends and enemies alike to establish better relations.
Rebuild the military and close the border between Mexico and the United States.
Establish trade policy that protects american workers
Increase taxes to where they were before President Bush lowered taxes for the upper income levels when he took office.
Commence a dialogue with members of both political parties for regulating effectively those government agencies that have been rendered powerless by this Republican Administration led by Republican George W Bush/Cheney and supported by right wing followers.
I’m a believer in the two party system, but I also believe that the right wingers have taken over the Republican party and as such the real conservative members of congress have little to say because they simply won’t speak out against what they percieve as fellow Republicans.
Thanks

I am neither a conservative nor a liberal (in the modern sense) but a libertarian. Both the Demopublicans and the Republicrats like to spend money we do not have. I once believed that Republicans were the party of small government but after six years of a Republican President, a Republican Congress and a government that grew in size I came to see I was mistaken. The vast majority of what the federal government does is not even authorized by the United States Constitution. If we could simply reduce the size and scope of government to its constitutionally authorized functions we could reduce the debt rather quickly. Will this happen? Not if we keep reelecting members of congress who vote for unconstitutional laws and spending. Only a handful does not.

Raising taxes will have the unintended consequence of hampering the growth of the economy.

I say we just sell our country to China. It won’t be much different than right now. Debt problem solved.
